Performance

With many of our headlamps featured on supercars capable of speeds well above 200mph it is no surprise that the performance of Wipac forward lighting systems has to be world leading.

Wipac’s most recent forward lighting projects increase on HID xenon performance by adding driving (high beam) functions in LED – this solution gives the highest levels of road illumination combined with accurate colour rendering for improved depth perception.

The next stage for forward lighting is the move to full LED systems and Wipac have a number of configurations in development, each with unique opportunities for performance, style and packaging.

In the next generation of Wipac equipped vehicles these systems will provide more light in wider beam patterns and ultimately forward illumination that continually adjusts to suit road, traffic and weather conditions.

  • Thermal CFD simulation of LED and heatsink temperatures in a prototype driving beam system

  • Ray traced simulation of passing beam (low beam) performance from a prototype LED system

  • Realistic real time simulation of passing beam performance from a prototype design using LucidDrive software

Away from forward lighting the performance of signal lighting systems can also offer improved safety and ergonomics for our customers. Recent projects have included LED reversing lamps tuned to provide optimised illumination for rear parking cameras, LED Direction indicator optics with increased wide angle visibility and high brightness LED additional emergency braking functions.
